Retired animations (or "rare" animations), much like Retired Clothing, are animations that are no longer obtainable.
There has been no given reason for the removal of these animations. But, it is theorised to be due to being gory, violent, inappropriate, added for a specific holiday/rare week or being too outdated. MovieStarPlanet was previously owned by Cartoon Network[citation needed], but a new company (now known as MovieStarPlanet ApS) bought it and removed animations that were deemed inappropriate.
History of retired animations
- Some animations that were introduced in early days of MovieStarPlanet were removed from the Shop. These animations were believed to be removed due to them being inappropriate.
- For some, the original animation was replaced with a new one.
- In late 2013, a large group of old animations were removed from the main catalog and then re-added shortly after. During the time they were removed, players could still buy them through the top and friends tabs.
- In August 2015, on many servers like UK, and USA, some retired animations were shown on the homepage when it was updated. The reason for this is unknown, though it's believed to have been a glitch due to the updates added at the time.
- Certain animations were changed to be kid-friendlier: for example, chopping time is now a sword rather than a cleaver, and the old knife animation is now a frying pan.
- Many animations where re-added in 2020.
